This unique food and wine experience from Port Douglas will be tasting some of the best food and wine that the Atherton Tablelands has to offer. The rich volcanic soil allows farmers to grow many and diverse crops from Bananas, coffee, sugar cane, avocados, mangoes, macadamia nuts, citrus and more which you will learn about as we taste our way around the regions 'Food Bowl.'
Our first stop of the day is at Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Centre where we enjoy a breakfast of Tropical and Indigenous fruits with some warm damper and unique jams with coffee tea. We then head up the Kuranda range through World Heritage Rainforest to Jaques family coffee plantation. After a wander through the coffee bushes to learn how coffee is made we sit down and enjoy a cup made just as you like it. Then we head to Mt Uncle Distillery for some award winning spirit tastings followed by platters of fresh local produce for lunch. Next we are going to a working dairy farm ‘Gallo’ to sample their cheeses and chocolates. Next stop is at ‘The Humpy’ for a platter of seasonal tropical fruits and local peanuts and macadamia nuts, here we can shop for all local farmers produce.
Now we head to Golden Drop winery to sample 11 of their tastings followed by some Daintree Ice cream companies Mango sorbet to freshen the palate.
The last stop of the day is at a private property next to a mountain stream with a resident Platypus to enjoy the serenity with some Queensland wines and beers and some Macadamia nut butter with local warm bread.
